ILMARI's equipment provide information about the causal mechanisms of the health detriments resulting from emissions and which factors in emissions affect their harmfulness, making it easier to correctly target measures for limiting emissions. The unit offers world class research and training in the sector as well as providing research data for companies' product development and the users of boiler plants and small fireplaces.
The unit also provides research data for decision-makers and public authorities about emissions and their health effects. In addition, the unit produces new techniques and innovations for developing efficient and low emission combustion techniques, especially related to R&D work on biofuels and nanoparticles.
