Turnover of Finnish cleantech companies was EUR 17.9 billion in 2010

Finnish Cleantech companies expect 9.6% growth in 2011, with renewable energy and energy efficiency being the major growth sectors.

Europe still forms the biggest market area for the Finnish cleantech companies but China is now the most significant single market. Other increasingly important markets are India, North America, Brazil and Africa. According to Hulkkonen, China’s strong growth and investments into cleaner and more efficient infrastructure in energy, water and waste management offer huge opportunities for Finnish know-how. In the future, Russia is expected to take over Germany as the second largest market, with India rising to fourth place.

Finland’s ten biggest cleantech companies are Wärtsilä, Metso, Kemira, ABB, YIT, Vapo, Cargotec, Outotec, Rautaruukki, and Kuusakoski.
