Shipped freight volumes between Sweden to Finland and the Baltic States rose by 14% in the first ten month of 2010, as demand normalised after last years drop.

Jan Kårström, chairman of Passenger Shipping Association (PRF) and chief executive at Viking Line Scandinavia, said that both passenger number and freight volumes were expected to rise in the 2011.

Janis Pavuls, head of communication at Tallink Silja, also forecast continued rise and said that passenger volumes had increased by 300,000 to 8.4mn passengers in the 2009-2010 financial year, compared with the year before.
