Port of Helsinki enjoys growth in cargo and passenger traffic despite cold winter

In January - February cargo traffic was up by 9% and the number of passengers increased by 17% compared to one year ago.

The Port of Helsinki has continued to operate normally despite the icy weather conditions this winter. In February 2011 the total volume of cargo traffic in the port was 750,000 tons, an increase of 9% on the same period one year ago. Imports increased by 10% and exports by 8%.

In January 2011 the cargo traffic total reached 1.5 million tons, representing an increase of 10% compared to the previous year. Passengers traffic during the first two months of this year also increased by an impressive 17% to a total of 1.3 million.Source:
