Nights spent by foreign tourists in Finland up by 10% in March

The number of overnight stays by Russian visitors increased by 36% compared to one year ago.

The total number of nights spent in hotels rose to 1.4 million, which was 2.5% more than the year before. The number of overnight stays in hotels by foreign tourists increased by 13%, while that of domestic tourists decreased by 1%.

The hotel room occupancy rate was 54.8 % in March, compared to 53.2% one year earlier. In March the average price of a hotel room was EUR 91.78 per day for the whole country. Twelve months previously it was EUR 87.65.

These figures are preliminary data from Statistics Finland and they have been collected from accommodation establishments with at least 10 rooms, cottages, youth hostels or caravan pitches with an electricity connection.
