Tampere University of Technology is starting courses in Health Informatics as a minor subject in autumn 2013. Until now there has been little systematic education in the area of health data systems in Finland.
According to Professor Ilkka Korhonen from the Tampere University of Technology, the planning of the studies has taken into consideration the existing shortcomings in procurement know-how and usability as well as the need for a broad understanding of how health care provision operates. Many of the courses will emphasise the viewpoint of the end users on health data.
The interdisciplinary course is expected to have about 20 students annually.
