The Latvian company Lido is planning to open a restaurant and a small amusement park in Lappeenranta, eastern Finland, next year. According to Juris Roganovs, Lido’s development director, the Lido chain will operate the business in Lappeenranta but the investor is another Latvian company.
Lido is currently negotiating with the City of Lappeenranta about the location of the restaurant. “I am fairly sure that we will open in Lappeenranta next year,” says Roganovs. Lappeenranta is situated near Finland’s border with Russia and is a popular destination for Russian tourists.
Lido was established in 1987 and is headquartered in Riga. The company has nine restaurants, including one in Estonia, and more than 1000 employees. Lido’s turnover in 2011 was EUR 18 million.
