Kouvola is the number one logistics center in Northern Europe

Finnish city Kouvola has been awarded the best logistics center in the Nordic and Baltic countries, according to a study of European logistics centers. In the study, the cities were evaluated with 40 different criteria within 16 distinct themes.

“The strengths of Kouvola are location, quality of logistics services and adaptability to various modes of transportation,” says Simo Päivinen, Development Manager at Kouvola Innovation Oy. “This result is a prize for the whole region.”

The comparative study of European logistics centers was conducted by Deutsche GVZ-Gesellschaft, a union of German logistics centers. This year, the study included 300 hundred locations from 30 different European countries.
Annually, around 8 million tons of cargo runs through Kouvola, a figure estimated to rise in the years to come.

“We continue the development of our logistics,” underlines Päivinen. “The city itself is deeply committed to the development framework.”
