Invest in Finland opens an office in Shanghai

IIF wants to activate China-Finland cooperation and increase Chinese investment into Finland.

“Invest in Finland has several target countries but China is currently an especially promising market thanks to its investment objectives and economic growth. We believe that in the next few years Chinese companies will also be investing in Finland,” says Tuomo Airaksinen, CEO of Invest in Finland.

Airaksinen believes that the potential is there for example, Chinese companies in the ICT-, environmental technology sector and the health and wellbeing sector have expressed interest in Finland.

New office follows major mapping exercise
Before opening the new office, Invest in Finland has mapped out the Chinese companies with the potential to internationalise their operations and also opened cooperation channels with Chinese officials both on the national and local levels. Invest in Finland also aims to further stimulate the cooperation between Finnish companies in China.

“Cooperation with Chinese companies offers capital, know-how and international networks to our leading clusters. The aim is to consolidate our activities in the Chinese market following several years of background research and preparatory work. Together with other Finnish business actors we will gain visibility for Finland in China’s challenging market,” says Airaksinen.

Invest in Finland’s new office is staffed by two locally hired Chinese employees. The office is located in the premises of the Finland-China Innovation Center (FinChi).
