Increasing demand for IT outsourcing in the Nordic region

More than half of Nordic companies interviewed by KPMG are expecting to outsource more.

Over three quarters of companies in the Nordic countries are expecting to outsource their IT services at least at the same level or more than before, according to a new report by KPMG. The research report Nordic Service Provider Performance and Satisfaction: 2012 is based on interviews with 340 Nordic companies that have a total of 900 IT outsourcing agreements.

An overwhelming 83% of the respondents in KPMG's study confirmed that they will continue to outsource at the same rate or more, with 52% saying they will 'probably' or 'certainly' outsource more. The market for IT outsourcing is worth some EUR 6 billion in the Nordic countries.

Cost savings are the most common reason for outsourcing, cited by 72% of the companies, followed by access to skills (52%) and financial flexibility (37%). According to KPMG, global or offshore sourcing is a significant element in Nordic organisations' sourcing strategies with 65% of the organisations using offshoring.
