Finnish LED manufacturer Valtavalo aims for international growth

Valtavalo moved its LED tube production from China to an automated production line in Finland.

The Finnish company LED lighting company Valtavalo has completed a EUR 350,000 strategic investment round to boost its international operations. Valtavalo was founded in 2008 and specializes in energy efficient lighting solutions.

In 2012, Valtavalo shifted its production of LED tubes from China to a completely new automated production line located in Kajaani, northern Finland. According to Valtavalo, the automatic processing ensures a uniform quality and reliability that has not been met before in LED light sources.

High growth expectations

Markku Laatikainen, founder and CEO of Valtavalo, expects the company’s turnover to increase by 50% and international sales by 200% during 2014. Valtavalo’s turnover was EUR 1.65 million during its last financial period ending in May 2013.

According to Valtavalo, its G3 LED tubes use 50–90% less energy than other lamps, depending on the age and type of the lamp. The lifespan of an LED tube is many times that of a normal fluorescent lamp, thus reducing the upkeep costs of lighting significantly.
