Yelp launches in Finland

Helsinki is a vibrant metropolis that offers an ideal base for a growing Yelp community.

“Finland is also one of the few countries in the world whose land area is still growing, by almost seven square kilometers a year, meaning there will always be a new bit of Finland for Yelpers to find, experience and share.” This is caused by the uplifting of the land mass and its consequent emerging from the sea that has been taking place since the end of the last ice age.

Yelp was first established in San Francisco in 2004 with the mission of connecting consumers with great local businesses. It currently has 71 million monthly users in 17 countries who contribute reviews and star ratings of restaurants, shops, hotels and other services. Companies can also set up their own page on Yelp where they can advertise and respond to consumers' comments.
