TeliaSonera plans to extend 4G network in Helsinki and main cities in Finland

Development of 4G network is driven by demand for mobile data transfer which has increased by 45% in the last five years.

According to Hentze, the demand for fast data transfer is driven by the increasing use of smartphones, tablets, laptops, as well as gaming and professional applications. In the past five years mobile data transfer has increased by 45% in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

TeliaSonera’s competitors DNA and Elisa are also planning to offer 4G to consumers in Finland. DNA started testing its 4G network in Helsinki and Hämeenlinna a few weeks ago, while Elisa is yet to reveal its plans regarding 4G.
