Sales in the Finnish technical trade have increase by 11% in the period January - September 2010 compared to the same period last year, according to the Association of Finnish Technical Traders. After an excellent year, members of the association are also very positive about the prospects for the sector, with 89% of companies expecting sales to grow further during the next year.
Sales have increased in all sectors of the trade, with raw materials leading the way with 31% growth compared to the year before. Sales of machinery and equipment for the construction industry have gone up by 15%, while car spare parts and tyres also scored 13% growth.
Sales of components, production goods and the consumer retail trade have also enjoyed sustained growth this year. According to the association, a significant turnaround has taken place in the sales of industrial machinery and equipment, where the falling sales of the first half of the year finally turned to positive growth in July - September 2010.
The Association of Finnish Technical Traders has 400 member companies, covering 85% of the technical trade in Finland, with total sales of EUR 7 billion.
