TCG Lifesciences Group acquires Finnish company Software Point

American company TCG Lifesciences Group buys its long-term Finnish partner which has a dominant presence in the laboratory informatics markets of Northern Europe.

The American company TCG Lifesciences Group has acquired the Finnish company Software Point, its long-time partner in Northern Europe which has offices in Finland, Sweden, and Norway. Software Point has been a partner and distributor to LABVANTAGE, owned by TCG, since the year 2000. LABVANTAGE offers products and services for the laboratory, including laboratory information management (LIMS), electronic laboratory notebook (ELN), and business intelligence.

“We are very pleased to welcome the many prestigious customers and talented staff from Software Point to the LABVANTAGE family. In addition to bolstering our already strong presence in Europe we expect to leverage the Software Point intellectual property in several of our current global initiatives,” said Jeff Ferguson, CEO of LABVANTAGE.

Since the year 2000, Software Point has sold and implemented more than sixty LABVANTAGE LIMS and Biobanking Solutions to a wide range of customers in Finland, Sweden Denmark, Norway and Estonia. Software Point has a dominant presence in the laboratory informatics markets of Northern Europe, according to Holmberg. Software Point’s turnover in 2010 was EUR 7.5 million.
