Specialty retail sales grow by 7.7% in Finland

First quarter shows strong sales performance in many specialty retail sectors, with sales of telecommunication devices up by 29.6%.

Sales of hardware, paints, glass, wallpaper and floor coverings were up by 7.4%. With the onset of spring, sales of flowers, plants, seeds and fertilizer grew by 7%. Sales of electric home appliances and electronics increased by 3.5% and sales of jewellery and watches by 2.9%. Sales of books, newspapers and paper products went up by 1.4%. In the optical trade sales increased by 1.2%. Furniture, lighting, carpets, textiles and home materials recorded 1.1% sales growth.

In March the fastest sales growth was in sports equipment (16.4%), computers, peripheral devices and software (14.7%), flowers, plants, seeds and fertilizer (13.6%), and clothing, shoes and leather products in specialty shops (12.4%).
