Russians have spent EUR 300m on property in Finland

Summer cottages in eastern Finland are popular among Russians property buyers.

Russians have acquired almost 2700 properties worth more than EUR 300 million in Finland during the past decade, according to the official purchase price register based on real estate transactions maintained by the National Land Survey of Finland. The register only includes those Russian buyers whose address is registered in Russia. Altogether about 5000 properties are estimated to be under Russian ownership in Finland.

The most popular locations for Russian property buyers are all in eastern Finland. For example, a total of 203 properties worth EUR 26 million were purchased in Savonlinna and 228 properties worth EUR 25 million in Ruokolahti. Other attractive locations include Imatra, Puumala, Taipalsaari, Kerimäki, Punkaharju, Mikkeli, Lappeenranta and Sulkava.
