Pan Village, a Dutch company specializing in eco-tourism, has started the construction of a new holiday village in Salla, Finnish Lapland, aiming to attract international visitors with luxury accommodation and unique nature experiences. The holiday village is located near the Salla Reindeer Park and Honka Ski Village Salla, just a few metres from the spectacular scenery of the Aatsinki-Onkamon Natura 2000 park.
"Finnish Lapland is known in Europe for its especially clean and beautiful nature. This was the reason why we decided to choose the Salla region as the location for our next holiday village,” says C.F.J. Slager, managing director of Pan Village. Pan Village is a company dedicated to sustainable tourism that has a minimum impact on nature and also brings income to the local population, according to Slager.
Pan Village has chosen the Finnish company Honkarakenne, which is also committed to eco-friendly development, to build the luxury wooden villas for the village. As part of the first stage of the project, Pan Village has ordered seven 432m² villas and a reception building from Honkarakenne in a deal worth EUR 1.5 million. The first villas will be completed this year and Pan Village is set to open on 19 December 2010.
“In the future there will be more and more demand for a concept like this, because the combination of the clean wilderness and quality accommodation is an attractive tourism proposition,” says Risto Kilkki, Honlarakenne’s director of sales and marketing. Pan Village is located approximately a 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from Kuusamo, and a 2-hour drive from Rovaniemi.
