Organic in Helsinki – Eat & Joy Farmers Market expects strong increase in turnover

The Eat & Joy Farmers Market in Helsinki was established in June 2009 to offer local and organic delicacies from 150 small producers.

Today, there are more than 250 producers and over 2,000 products. Entrepreneur Aki Arjola is the principal force behind the farmers market. He wants consumers to enjoy wholesome food and produce with as few additives as possible – all direct from local producers.

The Eat & Joy Farmers Market’s first financial year ended in an encouraging result in May 2010. Turnover was almost 1.2 million euros and net revenue 150,000 euros. Arjola expects a 30% increase in turnover during the current financial year.
