Norwegian developer Fortus plans outlet village near Helsinki Airport

East Finland Real Estate is also set to open an outlet village on Finnish-Russian border.

East Finland Real Estate is expecting to start construction work this summer on an outlet village in Vaalimaa, a major crossing point on the Finnish-Russian border. The first stage of the 20,000 square metre Zsar Outlet Village should be open for business in 2016, and the second stage of the development is planned to be completed in 2018.

Currently there are no outlet villages operating in Finland. According to Tuija Postari-Kivistö, the increasing number of Russian tourists visiting Finland in recent years has boosted the demand for branded goods.
