National health technology accelerator established in Finland

Vertical Startup Accelerator is partnering with Samsung Electronics as Finland aims to boost health technology exports.

The accelerator will work in close partnership with the cities of Espoo and Helsinki as well as other Innovative Cities (INKA) funded by Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation. Its operations are strongly founded on the HealthSPA cluster which has more than 200 participating companies, according to Sivonen.

According to Samsung, innovations for measuring the heart rate by the Finnish company Firstbeat are a good example of the technology that Samsung Electronics has licensed from Finland and included in its devices.
