Kouvola aims to be the capital of wood construction in Finland

New wood element factory boosts the wood construction industry which is expected to grow rapidly in Finland.

Elementit-E Oy is another company based in Kouvola that has a long history of wood construction expertise. Its main products are module-based schools, care and daycare buildings. Module-based construction is highly suitable for projects on a tight schedule. Construction time is halved as the elements can be produced at the same time as the building’s foundations are being laid. Both Elementit-E Oy and Rakennustoimisto Rasto Oy have CE quality certification for their wood element products.

The City of Kouvola is aiming to become the capital of wood construction in Finland. It has many wood construction projects planned, including wood apartment buildings, a new school and extensive repair work using wood elements. Kouvola is also home to the WoodInno Centre of Expertise in Wood Construction which is creating a network of companies specialising in wood construction in the region. Woodinno is also establishing a R&D company serving the wood construction industry, according to Jari Pajala, Project Director at Woodinno.
