Innovative methods developed for construction planning in Finland

New online services enable the participation of residents in the planning process and provide valuable information for home builders in Finland.

The construction company Skanska has also been encouraging the residents of Tampere to participate in the design of a new development. Finnish municipalities are also opening new discussion channels with residents when planning new residential areas.

A new web service has been launched by the STOK Electrical Building Services Centre in Finland for people who are building their own houses. The Talotekniikkainfo.fi website helps self-builders compare and select technical equipment for their new homes, and shows the importance of holistic planning and technology choices from the start of the project. The service also includes a national register for finding local electrical planners, architectural planners and water technology, heating, ventilation and air conditioning planners.
