IHG to open first Hotel Indigo in Finland in 2015

Finnish company Restel operates all InterContinental Hotels Group’s hotels in Finland.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world’s largest hotel companies, has signed a franchise agreement with the Finnish company International Restel Hotels Ltd to open a new hotel in Helsinki. The 120-room Hotel Indigo Helsinki – Boulevard is due to open in 2015 following the conversion of an existing building at Bulevardi 26 in the Punavuori district of the city. The location is known for its 19th century art and architecture, nestled amongst trendy restaurants and art galleries.

According to IHG, the new hotel will be designed to reflect its neighbourhood, the character and history of the surrounding area. The hotel will feature a high quality bar and restaurant as well as a large fitness studio. This will be IHG’s first Indigo boutique brand hotel in the Nordic countries. The architect and principal designer for the project is Architect Sami Horto of Inter-Arch Oy. The hotel will have a total surface area of 7700 square metres and will be constructed by NCC Ltd.
