Good prospects for Finland’s interior decoration sector

Finnish consumers are spending more on their homes and gardens as home construction recovers from the recession.

Finland’s consumers will be spending much more on interior decoration furniture trade in the future, according to Arja Tammi, the executive director of the Finnish Furniture Trade Association. Turnover in Finland’s furniture sector picked up during the last quarter of 2009 and has continued the positive trend this year.

Tammi believes that this is just the beginning as the recovery in home construction will also be reflected in more interior decoration activity. Finnish consumers are spending more and more in design, gardens and balconies and the use of interior designers is becoming more popular. Clothes retailers have also started investing in interior decoration. For example, H&M already has its Home stores in Helsinki and Stockholm.
