Finnish startup combines digital comic and mobile 3D game

Tunnel Ground produces in-depth stories and high‐level visualizations with the latest digital art techniques.

Tunnel Ground, a Finnish startup company and a forerunner in combining digital comic books and mobile games, has launched a scifi story that develops simultaneously in a comic strip and in the hands of the mobile game player. The first chapter of the Tunnel Ground - Subterranean Dawn comic book and mobile 3D game for Apple mobile devices was launched at the Helsinki Book Fair in October 2012.

According to Tunnel Ground, the book features intense scenes and stunning visuals and is available on the iBookStore . The game includes six levels of hard-packed 3D action and is available on the App Store.

High-level visualizations

The storyline renders a post-apocalyptic science fiction story set in a dark and desolate future. According to Tunnel Ground, the comic and game are targeting audiences who like in-depth stories and beautiful high‐level visualizations, produced with the latest digital art techniques.

“We have accomplished quite a lot in a short time. This tells a lot about how much fun it is to work with the concept. Tunnel Ground draws big lines, also leaving room for the imagination,” says Jukka Planman, CEO and game developer at Tunnel Ground.

The company was formed in June 2012 and has six employees. Tunnel Ground is planning to publish four chapters of the story at six monthly intervals.
