Finnish companies’ business growth is stable despite more uncertainty

Production and sales are forecast to remain on the rise in manufacturing, construction and services in Finland, according to the quarterly survey by the Confederation of Finnish Industries.

The business outlook indicator for construction fell to +7 in July, compared to +23 in April. According to the survey, 12% of construction companies expected an improvement in the situation while 5% expected a deterioration. The volume of orders is expected to rise gradually.

The labour force grew somewhat in all three main sectors. Labour shortages were a major obstacle to operations in construction and services, where 40% of construction companies and 21% of service companies suffered from a lack of skilled labour.

The Confederation of Finnish Industries EK’s Business Tendency Survey is published four times per year. In July 2011, 954 companies employing more than 250,000 people in Finland replied to the survey.
