Finland’s specialty retailers announce results for 2010

Good sales growth was recorded for hardware and construction materials, sports products and home appliance last year, while sales of gift items are improving this year.

According to the Finnish Petroleum Federation, Neste Oil had the biggest market share in the retail of oil products in 2010 with 36.9%, followed by Teboil (27.7%), Shell (11%), ABC (9.7%), St1 (9.5%) and SEO (1.7%). There were 915 service stations and 1070 automatic service stations in Finland at the end of 2010.

Demand for corporate gift products has started increasing again in Finland, according to Olli Pälvimäki, managing director of Artepro. Anu Pylsy from Design Pylsy says that companies are looking for a unified range of gifts which are ecological, local and high quality.

Tiimari’s sales in Finland increased by 6% in May 2011 compared to the same period one year ago, reaching a total of EUR 4.9 million. Cumulative sales over five months were 9% down from the same period one year ago. Tiimari sells gift products, craft products, office and school supplies.
