Finland’s retail sector investments to grow in 2011

More than half of Finland’s retail sector companies plan to expand their operations in 2011.

Investments are growing this year in Finland’s wholesale and retail trade, according to a study by the Federation of Finnish Commerce. More than half of Finland’s retail sector companies plan to invest in expanding their operations this year, signalling the end of the investment recession in the sector that saw investments fall by 16% in 2009.

According to Statistics Finland, the retail sector was the third largest source of fixed investments in the Finnish economy in 2009 and the biggest in terms of construction investments. Finnish retail companies invested EUR 1.5 billion in construction during 2009.
