The municipality of Kirkkonummi and Lemminkäinen Talo Oy are planning Finland’s first Outlet shopping centre in Jorvas, located between the Route 51 and the railway line. Outlet centre sell top brands at discount prices and are usually located away from the major stores in the cities.
About one million people live within a 40 minute car drive from Jorvas, which is also planning to construct a railway station in 2014. If the Outlet project passes the planning process, it would consist of 25,000 floor square metres on a seven hectare plot, with construction starting in 2013 at the earliest. Kirkkonummi is looking to construct a major landmark that would differentiate the municipality from the surrounding region.
