Finland ranked fifth in INSEAD’s Global Innovation Index

Major strengths of Finland’s innovation environment include its stable political environment, human capital and research, and scientific outputs.

Finland’s other specific strengths identified by the index are political stability and government effectiveness, education, the number of researchers and expenditure on R&D, knowledge workers, collaboration between universities and industry, cluster development, and patent applications.

According to the index, Finland could improve its performance in the areas of Innovation efficiency, Creative Outputs, and Market sophistication. INSEAD eLab has been producing the Global Innovation Index since 2007, recognizing the key role of innovation as a driver of economic growth and prosperity and acknowledging the need for a broad horizontal vision of innovation that is applicable to both developed and emerging economies.
