Finland has perfect climate for data center business

Invest in Finland is promoting business opportunities at the 7x24 Exchange 2013 Fall Conference in San Antonio, United States.

“Inexpensive green energy and free cooling, state of the art fiber and electricity networks, the availability of skilled personnel – these are just a few of the many good reasons why data centers should be established in Finland,” says Alpo Akujärvi, Senior Director from Invest in Finland.

Invest in Finland is promoting business opportunities for data center operators and other players at the 7x24 Exchange 2013 Fall Conference, held on 17-20 November in San Antonio, United States. The 7x24 Exchange is organized for those who design, build, operate and maintain mission critical enterprise information infrastructures.

Invest in Finland’s main message and slogan is at the event is “The perfect climate for your data center operations”. The conference attracts 815 professionals from the industry and for a good reason: cloud computing is growing and the business around the data centers is too.

Growth industry

“The data center business is still growing strongly. It looks like the business will become even more important in the future and the Nordic countries will become a significant investment location,” says Vesa Weissmann from Gearshiftgroup, who is part of the Team Finland at San Antonio. “It is Finland’s fortune that data centers require a safe, reliable and economically very competitive operating environment. It is also important that there are no major natural disasters in Finland and the country is geographically situated on solid bedrock.”

Finland’s Oulu region is represented at the conference by Petri Hyyppä, Director, Data center programs. All the other possible data center regions in Finland are represented by Invest in Finland. “Every region in Finland has its own excellent and different sales arguments. It’s really great that we can offer such choice to the clients,” says Alpo Akujärvi.

Finland is now internationally recognized as a trusted location for data centers. Most recently, Google announced that it is investing a further EUR 450 million in its data center in Hamina, south-eastern Finland.
