Finland and USA strengthen cooperation in wireless communication

New virtual institute aims to solve mobile data transmission problems and to develop competence and innovations.

Planning of the WIFIUS institute is being coordinated by Professor Matti Latva-Aho from the University of Oulu's Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) unit. Other members involved in the projects include Aalto University, Tampere University of Technology and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.

A total of six joint projects will be starting up in the initial phase. "For Tekes, activities in the initial phase are mainly related to the Trial Environment for Cognitive Radio and Networks programme," says programme manager Katja Ahola from Tekes.
