Consumer spending on e-commerce increased by 15% in Finland

Finns spent more than EUR 5 billion in online purchases during the first half of this year.

E-commerce now constitutes about 7-8% of the total retail sales in Finand. In specialty goods e-commerce already makes up almost a quarter of the total sales. Non-Finnish e-commerce sites attract more than half of the online expenditure in sports-related items and almost 39% of the online spending on children's goods by Finnish consumers.

The statistics are based on online interviews with 4353 consumers in Finland conducted by TNS Gallup. The e-commerce statistics are published twice yearly and include goods ands services purchases, service reserations as well as 30 product categories and 70 sub-categories.
