Blue Water Shipping acquires Finnish company W&K

Danish transport company Blue Water Shipping strengthens its position by getting closer to Finnish clients.

The Danish company Blue Water Shipping has acquired the Finnish company Wikeström & Krogius (W&K), one of Finland’s largest privately owned freight forwarding companies. W&K specializes in road, sea, and air transport as well as project transports and comprehensive logistical solutions.

“As a company, we have the same values as Wikeström & Krogius so the match between the two companies is perfect. In the future, the clients will continue to experience unique service and very high quality,” says Carsten Eskildsen, Director for Blue Water Shipping’s General Cargo Division.

Strong brand in Finland

According to Eskildsen, Blue Water Shipping recently made a strategic decision to strengthen its position in Finland. “Our strategy is to be close to our clients. We know it is of great significance to our quality and service that we have a close, personal dialogue with our clients,” says Eskildsen.

W&K was established in 1850, and is today a very strong brand in Finland. In 2012, the company’s turnover was EUR 23 million. W&K has 38 employees and 3 offices in Finland.

“I believe that Blue Water Shipping is the right home for Wikeström & Krogius, so I expect a lot from this merger,” says Henrik Mahlberg, Managing Director of Wikeström & Krogius. Blue Water will retain the brand name W&K, and Mahlberg will take on the position as Managing Director of the activities of W&K and Blue Water in Finland.
