Art Hotel Helsinki will offer a unique experience to guests

The market for boutique and premium hotels is growing in Helsinki.

Art Hotel Helsinki hotel will feature unique rooms created by about 20 leading Finnish contemporary artists and is planned to open in the Jätkäsaari district of Helsinki by the end of 2016. Designed by Futudesign Oy, the eight-storey hotel will have about 80 rooms. According to Art Hotel Helsinki, the values behind its hotel concept are creativity, top quality art, ecology and locality.

Art Hotel Helsinki’s CEO Sari Poijärvi believes that Finnish contemporary art will attract international guests to the hotel. “Finland has so many interesting artists with a strong approach, vision, content and message,” says Poijärvi in an interview with the Finnish business publication Taloussanomat.

Premium market is growing

According to Ari Björkvist, board member at Art Hotel Helsinki, the market for boutique and premium hotels offering unique experiences is growing in Helsinki. He estimates that Art Hotel Helsinki will offer rooms at about EUR 200 euros per night. Art Hotel Helsinki is aiming to raise EUR 13.4 million for the construction costs of the hotel.

Helsinki’s hotel scene is currently enjoying a great deal of activity in, especially in the higher priced segment of the market. Royal Ravintolat is doubling the number of rooms in Hotel Haven and opening a new hotel. Restel is also opening two new hotels in Helsinki and Kämp Group is opening luxury top floor suites under its Sky Loft brand.
