Lappeenranta is planning to redevelop its central City Block, one of the city’s main shopping areas.
The City of Lappeenranta expects the competition to produce topflight architecture and solutions that will connect the redeveloped area naturally to its surroundings and create a comfortable and high quality atmosphere for the area. The City Block will include space for both retail and leisure activities, with car parking located underground. Initial ideas include a light and warm indoor shopping area that will also attract customers to spend time there in the winter.
The major parties involved in the project are the City Of Lappeenanta, Lemminkäinen Talo Oy, Lappeenrannan Liiketalo Oy and Lappeenrannan Keskustalo Oy.
