Finland’s unemployment level below European average

Eurostat figures that Finland’s unemployment rate was 6.8 per cent.

Finland’s unemployment rate is below the EU average, according to the figures from Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In February 2009 the unemployment rate in Finland was also lower than in Sweden for the first time.

According to Juha Martikainen from Statistics Finland, the international economic conditions have affected Sweden more forcefully than Finland. Eurostat figures for February 2009 show that Finland’s unemployment rate was 6.8 per cent and Sweden’s was 7.5 per cent.
