A Large-scale clean energy centre will be established in Lahti Finland. The centre will make possible applied research on renewable energy and energy efficiency. The clean energy centre will facilitate capitalization of market potential of cleantech companies.
Lahti Science and Business Park ltd is in charge of developing and organising the building phase of the clean energy centre. The total value of the project is 3 750 000 euros and the centre will be ready by the end of 2009. The initiator of the project was a burner manufacturer Oilon which is headquartered in Lahti. Also Lahti University of Applied Sciences has been involved in planning of the centre.
The clean energy centre will further enhance the focus on cleantech business in Lahti region. Already around 10 per cent of Finnish cleantech business is located in and around Lahti. By improving research and development facilities, the clean energy centre will support the growth and internationalisation of high-tech cleantech companies. The premises, appliances and services of the centre will be available for the use of all cleantech companies and research organisations.
