Outsourcing wave creates new opportunities for IT companies

20/02/2009

Finnish companies are increasingly ready to outsource their IT activities and to change their IT business partners, according to a new study by Aara Finland Oy, a consulting firm specializing in ICT market information services.

Business leaders interviewed in the study state that IT partnerships are being evaluated critically. Significantly, in 42% of companies these partnerships will be put out to competitive tender in the near future. This means increasing activity and market share redistribution in many ICT market segments during the next two years.

The study also reveals that most companies expect to increase their external IT expenditure and to reduce their internal IT costs. Although there are differences between different sectors and company sizes, the study predicts good growth opportunities in the IT outsourcing markets in many segments. Most business leaders across all the major sectors – retail, industry and the service sector – also expect to see more growth in the Finnish economy.

Aara interviewed 151 business executives from large and medium-large Finnish companies in January 2009. From the respondents, 21% represented companies with more than 1000 employees, 26% companies with 500-999 employees, and 53% companies with 50-499 employees.
