More than half of the respondents say that the economic downturn has not affected their significant purchases.
A new survey suggests that the purchasing power of Finnish consumers remains healthy. More than half of the respondents say that the economic downturn has not affected their significant purchases or aspirations, according to the survey conducted by TNS Gallup for Sampo Bank. Only a quarter of the respondents believe that the economic situation has affected their purchasing decisions in some way.
According to the survey, a fifth of the respondents have also started saving for a rainy day. The most popular aspiration among the respondents is economic independence and the possibility to make bigger purchases without looking at the price tags.
The survey also reveals popular perceptions on who the Finns consider to be wealthy. According to Arne Stadigh, director of Sampo Bank’s private banking services in the Uusimaa region, the Finns believe that a wealthy person has a car worth more than EUR 50,000, a home valued at EUR 300,000 – 700,000, savings of 100,000 or annual earnings of at least EUR 60,000.
