Anttila, part of the Kesko Group which is one Finland’s largest retail chains, will construct its central warehouse at the new Kerca logistics centre located in Kerava in southern Finland.
Anttila will be the first company to establish a presence at the Kerca logistics centre. Anttila is investing EUR 50 million in the new logistics centre, which is expected to be operational in early 2011. The volume of the new building will be 300,000 cubic metres and it will be constructed by the SRV Group on a 40,000 square metre plot.
The next company set to arrive in Kerca will be Grand Cargo Center, which also aims to attract smaller clients to the facility.
Kerca will give a significant boost to Finland’s logistics capacity. According to Harri Nikander from the City of Kerava, there is less than 2% free space in the current logistics facilities in the Helsinki area.
Kerca has been planned by the City of Kerava and the SRV Group into a competitive and cost efficient logistics and production centre which will meet the needs of the future. Kerca excellent transport connections across southern Finland will include a direct rail link to the major new port in Vuosaari, eastern Helsinki.
